Summer Edit: Botanicals, Bamboo, and Big Cats

Here we are smack dab in the middle of Summer and Autumn. On the pagan wheel, it’s called Lammas or Lughnasa. It’s the first event of the year’s harvest. If you tend one, how's your garden growing? It's been like playing whack a mole getting the weeds back lately. A welcome struggle though in the midst of watching the blooms show their pretty faces.

Been thinking about the wonder of healing botanicals and growing your own. The inspiration behind our Alchemy collection was based on growing healing herbs; the practice of the Hedge Witch, aka: kitchen witchery.

I chose imagery to honor the plants mother earth gives us which help us sleep and hallucinate to open our minds. The theme of transformation symbolized by the snake slithering among the foliage of herbs is meant to remind us to feel safe and free to embrace change. When we sleep, we dream. When we dream, our passions arise. When our passions arise, pleasure comes. It's a nice pattern. Do we shed our skin when we sleep? Waking up feeling fresh and anew?

Additional motifs show us a goblet for an elixir, or to anchor incense which engages all the senses. The flick of candlelight and another reminder of transformation in the 3 moths attracted to the flame.

May I recommend a book? Check out S. Elizabeth’s ‘The Art of the Occult’, “A Visual Sourcebook for the Modern Mystic”. A well-spring of imagery from the Cosmos, Sacred Geometry, Astrology, Alchemy, Kabbalah, and more!

I love to read before I fall asleep. It’s a nice nighttime ritual that clears the brain of the hustle and bustle of the day. As the temperatures rise, I’m loving sleeping on our bamboo bedding. It’s a cooling fabric that is like sleeping on a cloud. It’s so soft and cool that it’s hard to get out of bed!

Take a look at my Summer Edit on the site for these and more products that embody the season. Everything in the collection is 10% off till mid-August.

How’s your Summer going? Do you have a nighttime ritual that helps you sleep as things heat up? Feel free to share in the comments or pop onto our social media to say Hi.

Stay cool, kittens!
Love, Sandy
